FAQ

Why should I hire a birth photographer?

The day, or night you bring a child into the world is a beautiful and intense whirlwind. They say that the memories of these first few moments fade so quickly. And, sadly it is true.  I can't clearly recall what happened for the first few hours after my daughter was born. Adrenaline, medication and excitement clouds your memory. Birth Photography helps capture & preserve these precious memories for you.  During labor parents are focused on a million different things- the health of mom, the health of baby, the intensity of the whole experience. Who wants to think about taking pictures at a time like this?! That's where I come in!

I am there to capture that special once in a lifetime moment, when you meet your little miracle for the first time. When you hear their first cry, when you finally get to hold them in your arms after months of anticipation.

Documenting what is sure to be one of the most important days of your (and your child’s) life is sure to be an investment you will never regret.  These images will be the story of where it all began for your child, the first of many precious heirlooms.

Does any birth space NOT allow birth photography?

I have photographed births throughout Phoenix and I’ve never had an issue photographing at any hospital, birth center, or home birth practice. Every Hospital had different policy regarding c-sections Do you work with a partner?

Yes! This is what sets me apart from other birth photographers in the Valley.  I have been working with the amazing Jocelyn Collins in a partnership to ensure that all births are covered.   By choosing me, you are choosing her as well and will have peace of mind that you have a team to ensure that your most precious moments will be covered.   You can check out her incredible work here: www.jocelyncollinsphotography.com

When do you arrive?

We like to arrive when my clients are in active labor. If your care provider is doing cervical checks - we usually like to be with you from 6 centimeters onward. If you are not being checked, we come when you have an active pattern of contractions that you can't talk or walk through.

We will be in communication before and during your labor to ensure that we come at just the right time.

How long do you stay?

We stay between 1-2 hours postpartum. If you are interested in further coverage (arrival of siblings, grandparents, etc...we can add that to your package).

What happens if you miss the birth?

Birth can be unpredictable! I make every effort to arrive with enough time to capture your labor, birth, and first hours together. In the event of a truly precipitous labor, I still aim to tell your story (in this case...your story was a fast, unpredictable birth!) We'll stay as long as we need to get the same amount of images you would have received if you had a longer labor otherwise you can choose to convert the remainder of your investment into a fresh 48 or lifestyle newborn shoot!

How many images can I expect?

We deliver between 100-200 professionally hand edited images. The exact number depends on the package you choose, as well as the unique length and unfolding of your story.  All images will be delivered electronically through a secure and private site where you can download all images for print and web usage.

Do you share every birth on social media?

I LOVE sharing empowering images of birth. Through these images, we can change the way our culture views motherhood and birth. However, we absolutely respect families that wish to keep their birth images private. During our consultation, we'll discuss exactly what you do or don't want shared. I will always honor your requests for privacy.

Do you offer videography?

Yes! We both love doing birth films.

How many births do you take each month?

We book between 2-3 births a month. By sharing call with Jocelyn, you don't ever have to worry about not having your birth photographer at your birth. We also have a strong relationship with , who can provide birth coverage in the event of an emergency.

What is your pricing?

Birth photography is an investment, but it's one worth making! Our prices range from $400 to $2200 depending on what type of package you're looking for.

Can we get together to meet first?

Absolutely! We'd love to take you out for coffee and tea and answer any more questions you have in person or via google hangout!  Whatever works best for you.

Do you offer other types of photography?

I specialize in birth, BUT we love documenting parenthood, motherhood. We offer monthly Lifestyle Sessions that you can learn about here.

We also offer Lifestyle Newborn Photography in your home.
